There is a popular saying that goes " what men can do women can do and do it even better". In our fight for equality what we fail to understand is that men and women are not the same. I'm not saying that men are better than women or women are better than men, but the fact is in some ways we function differently. One of the most areas where these differences cause unnecessary misunderstandings and problems is relationships.
Let's get right into these differences.
MEN FALL IN LOVE FASTER BUT COMMIT SLOWER THAN WOMEN DO
Men fall head over heels in a relationship at the initial stages. They feel absolutely certain that they have found the woman they want to be with. It rather takes a while for women to become more certain about the relationship, while men begin to doubt whether this is the one true love they are looking for at this time. This is the phase of transition into commitment and is common among many men. It's not always that men begin to lose interest or fall out of love. They just take longer to commit to a lifetime together as compared to women.
DIFFERENT NEEDS OF INTIMACY AND SPACE
At some point in relationship, most men tend to be needing space from their partner. These vague words are a threat to most women, who don't understand this need, and take it as a way of them wanting out, or hiding something unpleasant but, this need for space comes from the different capacities of emotional intimacy that men and women have. Women on the other hand, are capable of a deeper and sustained emotional closeness, while men need to break away and withdraw to come into their own.
WOMEN ARE MORE EMOTIONAL AND SENSITIVE THAN MEN
Women tend to be more emotional in a relationship, while men tend to be more focus on keeping it light and fun. While deep connection and emotion is important to sustain a relationship, men are a little bit shallow as compared to women. For a woman a deeper emotional connection is the most important thing. This is something that both genders can learn a bit about from each other. Women can strive to make the relationship more passionate and fun, while men can strive to be more sensitive and emotionally available.
I believe understanding these three fundamental differences will make your love life much better.
